Even though the Herb Salt is used in very small culinary doses, Several herbs in this blend have known interactions with medications. Please consult your healthcare practitioner if you are taking any of the following:
- Bladderwrack Kelp — High iodine content may interfere with thyroid medications (e.g. thyroxine, carbimazole) and anticoagulants such as warfarin.
- Celery Seed — May potentiate diuretics and antihypertensive medications; use with caution alongside lithium.
- Rosemary — May interact with anticoagulants (warfarin), ACE inhibitors, and diuretics at therapeutic doses.
- Horsetail — Diuretic properties may interact with lithium and antihypertensive drugs; may reduce thiamine (B1) absorption with prolonged use.
- Peppermint — May slow the metabolism of certain drugs processed by CYP3A4 enzymes; use with caution with cyclosporine and some antacids.
- Birch Leaf — Diuretic effect may interact with lithium and antihypertensive medications.
- Alfalfa — Contains vitamin K; may reduce the effectiveness of anticoagulants such as warfarin. May also interact with immunosuppressant medications.
- Black Pepper (Piperine) — May increase the absorption and blood levels of certain medications including phenytoin, propranolol, theophylline, and some chemotherapy agents.
