HISTORY
Senna is well known for its effectiveness in cases of constipation, and the herb is still officially recognized by inclusion in most national pharmacopeias. It was first brought into medical usage by Arabian physicians of the 9th century when the best sort was considered to come from Mecca. Another species, Cassia acutifolia, provides the slightly inferior “Alexandrian senna”.

Inhibits resorption in the intestine.
CONTRA-indications
DO NOT USE alone. Not to be used in spastic constipation or colitis. Large doses of leaf cause nausea, griping pain, and red coloration of urine.
