My Journey into Natural medicine..

In 1989 I was busy having what I thought was a normal life; I thought I ate well and fed my kids well.  I thought I had it all worked out.  However, one day when driving home from a friend’s house I had car crash. Resulting in a crushed T11 vertebrae and doctors wanting to insert a metal rod. Well that wasn’t happening!

Doctors had me on a cocktail of medication and nothing helped.  The pain was unbearable and I had a young family to care for.

There had to be a better way.

A friend told me about a local Herbalist and the rest is history.

In 1990 I enrolled in a traditional medicine college and have been a Western Medical Herbalist Practitioner since qualifying in 1994.

Wittenoom – asbestos

From the 1950’s until the early 1960s, Wittenoom was Australia's only supplier of blue asbestos. This was where I spent four years of my childhood - kicking around the pretty blue shale that was used everywhere in the town, from top soil for gardens to sandpit filler for the kids.

As a result, I was told that I would not live much past 38 years, giving me another reason to study alternative medicine and becoming obsessive about cancer preventative treatments. Thus taking me down another road of qualifications to become a Naturopath, Acupuncturist and Deep Tissue Masseuse.

Not you’re regular Natural Therapist

A few years ago I had another crash. This time it involved me coming off my pushbike. Did I reach for my herbal tonics and tinctures? HELL NO! I went to hospital and took every drug that was on offer.

Why? Because the pain was unbelievable.  I did however; use the herbs and tonics to accelerate the healing process and detox the drugs from my body.  If you want to see the pictures click here

In December 2018 I tripped over my rabbit and broke two ribs. Again, bring out the big guns - anti-inflammatories and painkillers.

So as you can see I’m not totally anti Orthodox Medicine. They do have a place and time and these days it’s hard to come across someone that isn’t taking something. However, usually that something isn’t helping too much so they seek me out and I work with them to design an herbal and nutritional program that alleviates herb-drug interactions and helps you restore your health.

If you are looking for an experienced, down to earth, practical, Qualified Herbalist that is knowledgeable, but you don’t want all the airy fairy stuff, then I know we can work together.
